This week was a pretty interesting one. I don’t really know how I would describe it. But, I am gonna give it my best shot :)
We got some pretty bad rejections this week. Rejection after rejection after rejection. It got a little discouraging especially because it is SOOOOOOO hot outside! We would knock on doors and listen as the parents quickly turned off the t.v., lights and told their children to be quiet. At one house, the family snuck out the back door to see who was knocking. And when they saw us, the ran back inside. We had family members of investigators tell us that they weren't home while we were staring at the person sitting on the couch through the window. A little girl told us "My mom said to say she isn’t here because she doesn't want you knowing she is home.” While I was contacting this lady, she was just trying to get away from me. She told me no to the card, walked in her back yard and shut the gate. But, a blessing of being 6 ft tall is that the gate didn’t phase me a bit. I just talked to that little woman right over the gate and didn't give up until she took the card. :)
We had a great Sisters Conference this week. It was so much fun and we did the hike that we did last year. It was so much fun! I really miss hiking! I loved being able to catch up with my old companions :) Another fun part was that since the hike was in West Virginia and we live in Annapolis, we got to stay at the mission home the night before and ride up with Sister Richards. After the Sisters Conference she took us out and got us frosted lemonades from Chick-fil-a! #yummyyummy
Cool miracles of the week…
One of our investigators and her husband, T. and A., are doing super duper well! We are teaching them ingles and it is going good! During our class, we found out that A.’s dad is a member of the church in Ecuador! We had a return appointment with a guy named C. We got to his house and his uncle answered the door. Turns out that F. had investigated the church for 3 years in El Salvador!!!
I finished el Nuevo Testamento! That was pretty exciting for me! Now I am reading in Doctrine and Covenants :) The scriptures are absolutely amazing! It is so amazing to think about and read from the Book of Mormon as well! It was written for us in our day! The Nephites and Lamanites weren’t reading from it, they were writing it! The Book of Mormon can help us in everything we face!
Yesterday was a great day! Although nobody came to church and it was a little discouraging... it was an amazing day none the less. The reason it was amazing was because of the service and the love that was given to us. Presidente B. and his family had a very hard and trying experience happen this week. It was hard seeing them sad and I wanted to do anything that I could to help them. But, the opposite occurred. Presidente B., in the midst of his hardship, came and asked Hermana Tinti and I if we had dinner. When we told him no, he immediately offered to have us over for sandwiches. They are experiencing such trials and hardships and they were still serving and blessings other’s lives. This meant the world to me and I am so grateful for their examples :)
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!
