The start of this week was HARD! I was just feeling broken and sad and I didn’t know what I should do. The Lord is so aware of me and every single one of us. He blessed us with such an amazing week, with the BEST miracles, the BEST experiences, the BEST of the BEST of the BEST! The week started off rough, and ended by being one of the most humbling and gratitude filled weeks of my mission.
We had four, 4, cuatro, investigators at church on Sunday! We went from having no investigators coming or progressing, to having 4 at sacrament meeting! They literally were probably a third of the congregation!!!!
V. is from Bolivia and Presidente B. told us to go and to visit her. She had been to church before, but kinda fell off the face of the earth and stopped coming. We found her and she is doing AMAZING! She wants to be baptized, just needs to get married first. Everything is going super great; other than the the fact that she flashed the entire branch during gospel principles by breast feeding her baby!
N. he is from Honduras and was the elders investigator but got passed off to us this week. His girlfriend O. doesn’t want to get married to him but the elders couldn’t figure out why so they sent the women in. haha. Turns out that N. hadn’t talked to her about marriage before he met the missionaries and when she had asked him, he said he didn’t want to get married. So, now she feels that he only wants to marry her so he can be baptized. We have got some work to do here! We are going to talk to N. and tell him to take her out to dinner, buy her some stuff, and make up for the damage that was done! haha!
G. she is 19, from El Salvador and has the CUTEST baby named Leo! We had dropped her because she was never home and we could never get in contact with her. This week, we stopped by and she was home! We taught the Restoracion and had the most AMAZING lesson! She agreed to the baptismal date of July 4th and came to church this week! She even prayed with us about her baptism and about Jose Smith! IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
A. her parents are from Mexico and they are so sweet! They didn’t like us coming over before, but have now had a change of heart and can see the goodness and happiness the gospel is bringing into A.’s life. She graduated this week and we got to go to her graduation party! It was so fun!
ALL OF THESE PEOPLE CAME TO CHURCH THIS WEEK!
We also had other amazing lessons. Everyone was so open with us this week, told us their life stories and it was just breaking my heart to hear what others go through. What they have been through to get here to America, and then they are here, alone, without family and it isn’t even worth it. My heart was broken for these people and it made me so much more grateful for my circumstances and the blessings I receive from the Lord in my life.
We had a crazy experience this week after A.’s graduation party. We were getting ready to leave when her downstairs neighbor came up and told us to call an ambulance. Her son got pushed down by another kid and cut his head open super bad. He was bleeding and his mom was freaking out. But, she was freaking out the wrong way. She left her son who had his head cut open so that she could go find the kid that had pushed him. She was full of so much anger and it was so hard to see. She started beating her little daughter, who we are really good friends with. I was holding her little son and we were cleaning his head off. The police came and we were translating for the mom who was still just trying to find the other little boy. I am kneeling down in their home and cockroaches are crawling all around me. The little daughter is bawling and I was trying to calm her down. It was a super hard and humbling situation. I left it with a heart full of gratitude! The gospel makes the BIGGEST difference in our lives. I wish that I could have done more for this family, for the kids. It was heart breaking to see, I will never forget it. I wish that everyone could have the gospel in their lives, that they could have the blessing that it brings to us individually and to our homes.
I love you guys!!!!
