HOW YOU ALL DONE DID BE DOIN ?
First off, Thank you so much for all of your letters in the mail this week :) Grandma Danielson.... thank you thank you thank you! Hannah... you da bomb! Dad, dem truffles were soooooooo good!
So, here is what when down this week over here is Hagerstown, MD:
This week I had some amazing food! Wowza!!! First, we went over to the Marroquin's and she made us these little things called pasteles. They are kinda like empanadas... but El Salvadoranian. I had about 20 :) Then, we went out to eat with the Trinidad's and I got tacos de lengua! yyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm :) And I had my first Dunkin' Donut ever in my whole entire life!
So, at futbol.... I headed the ball and I made a goal!!!! This is some serious improvement family! The week before everyone was fighting over who had me on their team- but not in a good way. haha! They were trying to trade and get rid of me! So, this week was a huge step for Hermana Mangum! My goal... it technically didn’t count. It was halfway in the goal, and the goalie said that is wasn’t. But everyone started to yell at him to give it to me, but he wouldn’t do it... so they didn’t count it :( Later on during the night he came up to me and said that it actually did go in. What?!?! Also, there are these teenage boys that come and play. We built up good relationships with them and they asked us if we could teach them english classes. We had one this week and we are going to have another one tonight :)
We had a Thanksgiving dinner activity at the church on saturday. It was a ton of fun! Y and her 2 kids came!!!! It was a miracle that we even got there. We had 8 of us pilled and squished into the back of Darwin’s van, and when we went to pick up our last investigator... Darwin’s van broke down. We were still 30 minutes away from the church. It was a horrible mess.. but Darwin called up a friend and we rode up in his minivan. We got there over and hour late, but luckily the party hadn't even started yet. haha!! IT was such a fun activity and Y and her kids had a great time! Also, while we were visiting with Y, she was telling us about some of the stuff that is happening in Mexico. Like about the 43 students that were burned. What is going on??? Maybe you shouldn’t tell me though... because I will most likely just break down and start crying.
We had a great lesson with Y#2. We decided to watch the Restoration with her. We have asked her to read the Book of Mormon and pray about Joseph Smith so many times... but it just hasn’t really clicked. After we watched the movie she was asking us a lot of questions and said, all on her own, that she wants to pray and ask God if he was a prophet. It was really cool :)
I don’t even want to talk about L. Boy, I love this kid and it was so so so so so so so so so sad. So we told him on Tuesday that he can’t be baptized until after he is cleared of legal matters and he understood and took it pretty well. Well, on Sunday, basically every single member of the branch came up to him and was asking him when his baptism was going to be, if they can come, if they can make food etc. It confused L and he came over to us and asked if he was still going to be baptized this Saturday. We explained it again and he fell apart. This boy has not had a fair shake in life and I know of no one who wants to change more. I broke down afterwards and just started to cry in the car. It hurt really bad having to tell him that. L really is like family. Max and him are my little brothers! Sometimes I just want to wrap him up and send him home to you guys in Provo Utah!
On to easier things, we finally got the heater and the refrigerator fixed!!! Our house has been about 40 degrees for a month now... but we finally have heat!!! I don’t know why we waited so long to call. One morning we woke up and both had runny noses and sore throats, so we decided it was time to fix it! Our fridge has also been broken for over a month and we just got that fixed as well.
This week I feel like I have grown a lot as a missionary. There were def def some hard times, but, I really really really feel like they have made me grow. I have learned so much more about my purpose as a missionary and that if I just align my will with Gods, if I make his desires my desires and his will my will, that I am doing my job.
I
LOVE
YOU
GUYS
SO
MUCH!
CAN
YOU
BELIEVE
THAT
WE
GET
TO
TALK
IN
A
MONTH
A
ONE
DAY!?
Love...
